How that it's time to bath that smelly cat, here are some tips for you and your cat to enjoy that bath.

Make sure that the Water Temperature is right for Bathing Cat.

The water should be luke-warm when going to bathe cat, more on the room-temperature side, because if you put hot water on your cat, it will get burned.

Cold water is always a better solution for bathing cats or kittens. Cats don't mind the cold. Unlike myself.

Yet water should not be tooo cold when bathing a cat- you know what I mean - not so freezing cold that your poor cat shakes and its teeth chatter... Just pleasantly luke-warm, like for a baby bath.

What Should You Bath Your Cat In?

Choose a shallow bathing tub that your cat can easily stand in. Deep buckets might cause cats to panic and feel as though they're stuck in a narrow clastrophobic well.

Best would be a shallow plastic container or a small laundry bucket, that is safe for cats and not slippery.

We plan on introducing our cats to water in a gradual way and not throw them into a 6 foot/2m pool and have them get a heart attack from fright.

Place a towel around the dish so that your cat can stand on it afterwards and get dry. Also the towel aroung the cat bath will prevent your house from drowning under water. ;-D

You can also use a rubber mat for the bath bottom, so the cat won't slip, but it isn't a " must have ".

If it's a slippery tray, then the rubber mat is advisable, but if it is a plastic dish, then you don't need to worry about it. Anyway, it's a shallow cat bath so there is no risk.

How Deep Should The Cat Bath Waters Be?

Start bathing your cat with just enough water to be above cats feet.

For the time bathing kittens or washing cats, just place your cat in the tub and let cat play around in there. Cats will get used to the bath and think it is fun.

Tips For Playing With Your Cat In The Tub:

If you play with your cat inside the cats bath with a string, or with some other toy your cat will enjoy bathing and want to get in there again.

Make it the place where you play with your cat with a certain item (like a mouse on a string or some kind of "cat bathing" toy.) you only use in bath. Your cat will be glad to jump in there and want to play with you.

Another cat bathing motivator is giving your cat a few yummy cat treats when he baths.

Next Stages Of Cat In The Tub

Don't worry if your cat makes a mess. The towels you places around the bath tub will mop up most of it.

Gradually you can begin to increase the depth of the water.

Beware: For most cat types, water should never be deeper than cat's knees.

This should be enough water to give your cat a bath, without creating the fear of drowning panic in your cat's mind.

How to wash your cat in the cat bath?

Don't pour the water over your cat or dunk her inside, instead use a wet cloth and dab your cat with it over his or her fur while paying with it in the bath.

Although many newspaper ads offer much younger kittens for adoption, most veterinarians and reputable breeders say that kittens should never leave their mothers before 12 weeks of age. When kittens are adopted they get separated from their mothers and siblings. If you adopt a kitten too early, the kitten might suffer extreme anxiety, and in some cases medical problems so severe that it could actually die.

Kittens adopted before 12 weeks miss out on critical emotional, mental, and developmental milestones that occur at 6-12 weeks of age. Some common problems afflicting kittens adopted before 12 weeks of age are poor immunity and rushed weaning.

Kittens adoped before 12 weeks of age are also more inclined to suffer from diarrhea as a result of sudden weaning and a too-rapid shift to solid food. This condition can be life threatening, as kittens will quickly become dehydrated and lose weight rapidly. Even if they don’t develop severe diarrhea, kittens adopten too early often become malnourished and fail to put on weight.

Cats' nutritional needs are very specific and the nutritional quality of cat food is one of the most important factors in cats' health and longevity.

Protein

Protein provides energy for cats and is essential for growth and development. Complete proteins contain ample amounts of essential amino acids and are found in foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and poultry. Plant proteins don't supply the essential amino acids that a cat needs, such as taurine which come from animal protein. Cats need protein from animal sources as the amino acids from vegetable sources are not well utilized. Overall, cats have a very high requirement for protein.

Fat

Dietary fat is a concentrated source of energy for the cat. Fat is involved in the cat's cell integrity and metabolic regulation. Saturated fat is found primarily in animal sources while polyunsaturated fat is found mostly in plant sources.

Linoleic and arachidonic acids have long been considered to be essential fatty acids (EFAs) for cats. More recently, DHA has been added due to its important contribution to feline vision, reproductive health, and the immune system. Unlike some animals, cats do not efficiently convert plant sources of EFAs to the needed derivatives. For example, cats must eat meat to obtain arachidonic acid. Also, cats do not convert LA to GLA (as some animals do), but studies show that GLA can benefit feline skin and coat health. The cat would also consume Omega 3s and CLA when eating its natural herbivorous prey.

Minerals

Minerals are essential to the cat and are involved in almost all physiological reactions. They contribute to enzyme formation, pH balance, nutrient utilization, oxygen transportation, and are stored in bone and muscle tissue. Elemental minerals are generally taken from the earth or water. Chelated minerals are those that are bound with other organic substances often making them easier for the cat's body to absorb.

Vitamins

Vitamins are essential for the cat's metabolism regulation, normal growth and function. Once again, the carnivorous cat utilizes animal sources of nutrients more readily than plant sources. For example, cats cannot convert beta-carotene from plants to vitamin A (as some animals do), so they need preformed vitamin A from an animal source. Preformed vitamin A needs no conversion.

Water

Because cats are designed to fulfill most of their water requirements by eating fresh raw food, they naturally have a low thirst drive. This can lead to health issues for cats that eat dry cat food products and treats. One of the problems is that even though cats become dehydrated eating the kibble, their natural "programming" may not encourage them to drink more water. And their urine can become too concentrated. Even though a healthy cat doesn't drink much, you should always have clean good quality drinking water available to them. And please make sure it's good quality water, which means tap water may be out, especially if your community puts fluoride and chlorine in the water supply. If you have well water, have it tested annually for contaminants.

Well, that´s because cats and kittens claws are constructed for climbing up. When cats and kittens attempt to climb down headfirst (and normally this is what they will try to do first), it's impossible for them because the claws are curved the wrong way. Eventually, a cat or kitten will figure out how to go down the correct way - shimmying down backward so that the claws will cling to the bark of the tree.

Your kitten will need time to adjust to her new environment, and understanding this is the first step in getting off to a positive start. Place your kitten in a small, quiet place with food and a litter box. As she becomes more comfortable, you can gradually allow her access to other rooms in the house. Talk quietly to your kitten and gently pet her. Set a regular time and place for feeding your kitten.

A kitten separated from her litter-mates and deprived of play activity may demonstrate some behavior problems in later life. Play helps introduce her to her environment and is very important in the kitten behavioral development. Stalking and pouncing on imaginary prey aids in a kitten's neural and muscular development. Your kitten’s socialization can be enhanced by frequent petting and handling, as studies show that petting a young kitten can make her more responsive as an adult cat.

Exposing kittens to as many people as possible is important in helping to lessen their fear of strangers as adult cats. Kittens should also be introduced to children. Show children how to pet the kitten. A kitten not socialized with children may reject or even bite them after she has matured.

And here´s the answer:
When a cat enters a room full of people who are staring at him, he becomes very uncomfortable. Then the cat notices that one person is totally ignoring him - the person who dislikes cats for whatever reason. The cat goes to that person to seek a safe haven from those who are fawning over him or intimidating him.

The differences in breeds consist of the shape of the body, the size, and length of coat, colour of coat, colour of the eyes, personality and more. Today, there are two main categories that cats are grouped in, short hair and long hair. The most common out of the two being short hair cats.

Maybe you are familiar with some of this cat breeds... Anyway, I asure you they are all beautiful and inteligent cats and they all deserve your love and attention.

Cats in Ancient Egypt

The friendship between cats and humans was established long ago in history, about 4000 years ago. It all started when the cats were domesticated in Egypt where they were held in the most admiration and respect.

The cat in ancient Egypt, or miw (to see), was a sacred and respected animal, but it was not until around 2000 BC that the fully domesticated cat was taken into the houses of Egyptians.

The first domesticated Egyptian cats were used for hunting snakes and rodents. Slowly though, the cat became more to the Egyptians than just a normal animal, the cat became a god. Bastet was the most famous cat goddesses in the world. She was the god of fertility, the protector of children and the protector of all cats.

During the New Kingdom (1540 to 1069 BC), there were many tomb scenes that started showing cats as part of everyday life. The ancient Egyptians took their cats on hunting excursions instead of dogs, the most popular excursions being the marshes where cats may have been trained to retrieve fowl and fish. Another very common scene in tomb paintings was the picturing of a cat seated underneath a woman's chair. Statues of cats were placed outside the house to protect the inhabitants and to ward off evil spirits. Loads of cats lived in Bastet temples. They were taken care of and served all their lives and when they died, the cats were mummified and given as offerings to Bastet. When a cat died their former owners and occupants of the house would go into deep mourning and shave their eyebrows as a sign of grief.

The cats in Ancient Egypt were protected by everybody including by law, so if anybody killed a cat with or without intention, that person was put to death too.

The cats had an important place in the history of Egypt. The cat was a protector and a Goddess and people warshiped them.
